President Harding signed a joint resolution extending the 3 percent limit for two more years. The law restricts immigration to 3 percent of foreigners listed in the 1910 census, as recorded in the United States.
About 300 men were in custody in Chicago over the labor war killing of two policemen. Three suspects were identified as the killers, with high union officials also under arrest on charges of inciting riot and fostering terror. Rewards total $40,000 spurred Chicago to action as authorities pursue alleged masterminds and hirelings connected to the case.
Prosecutor Malcolm Douglas says he will place before the county grand jury all evidence from informant A Franzen about charges against police squad officers connected to a liquor case. Franzen testified he was paid a bonus to secure a Wood liquor conviction and alleged grain alcohol was substituted for denatured alcohol to obtain evidence. Douglas says bonuses are not paid by his office and that informers are paid five dollars a day. The grand jury was also focused on a ferry lease investigation involving Capt. John L. Anderson.
J. F. E. Weller former president of First National Bank of Pirage was sentenced to ten years in San Quentin prison after pleading quilty to embezzlement.

A tornado half a mile east of Lexington Nebraska killed five and injured about twenty last night. Ben Berman his wife and three children are missing and believed dead. A second twister hit near Overton destroying five miles of telephone poles.
A tornado east of Lexington Nebraska last night struck outbuildings and communication lines, injuring five. A lone seriously hurt worker in a section house was thrown 100 feet, breaking arms and legs. The storm widened a 300 foot swath up to 15 miles north from the Platte River.
Weather reports say Western Colorado and Wyoming faced the worst spring blizzard in years. A heavy snowfall and high winds disrupted transportation and wire communications, with fruitgrowers and sheepmen fearing large losses from the storm.
Four persons died in Texas floodwaters. Two small children of Mr and Mrs Matt Noack drowned at Winchester. Woody Hanks and Ross Patterson perished near the Brazos River at Somerville while attempting to warn of a weakened Santa Fe railroad bridge. All bodies recovered.
John Barton Payne chairman of the American Red Cross issued a nationwide appeal for 500000 to aid the homeless flood sufferers along the lower Mississippi River. The appeal was endorsed by President Harding.

Everett hearings loom as Puget Sound Telephone Company fights for rate changes without a franchise. City Attorney Faussett accuses Winter of seeking $16,000 yearly rent extras and looming costs for Everett and Seattle if telechronometers are adopted.
Oriental Navigation Co. sues Scandinavian American Bank of Seattle and three state banking officials for 167263 dollars in superior court. The case alleges failure of Anderson Shipbuilding Co. to deliver the steamer Gen. Pau per contract, with the bank guaranteeing fulfillment. Damages include losses from late delivery to the French government and 1146,769 in required repairs after delivery.

Telegram advices from Kai Feng Fu report Cheng Chow in Henan province suffered ten thousand deaths as Chao Chieh’s insurrection was crushed by Wu Pei Fu forces. Christian general Feng Yuh Liang led the Seventh division to quell the uprising and execute Chao Chieh for cruelty.
Detroit officials say municipal ownership has a fair chance as the city takes over its entire street rail system on Monday May 15. The Detroit United Railways system is valued at about 40 million dollars, with the city having paid 19.85 million. The system includes 363 miles of track and 1 460 cars, after the city built 90 miles of its own trackage at roughly 14 million dollars.
In a Seattle funeral chapel two women mourn a tiny baby both mother and foster mother sharing tears and grief. One woman is the baby's rightful mother, a widow with support needs, while the other is the foster mother who sought a child for love. The service was brief, with a baby prayer as they kissed the lips of the tiny child and walked away arm in arm.

Mrs J W Dean of Third avenue apartments and two men were held up by four alleged bandits at Fourth avenue and Lenora street. Cole 28 a cook and Ray Wilson a barber were arrested after a struggle. A third man claimed to have a revolver but fled. Police found photos of the suspects in a gallery and Vera 25 a woman connected to one prisoner was arrested.
War department announces transfer of the Seventh corps area headquarters from Fort Crook Nebraska to Omaha. The move affects military administration and base operations in the region as of May 11.
