In a new law case Judge Benson heard John A. Weatherg’s complaint against Edward Murphy for neglect of his two children Thomas and George, aged five and eight, who live with him on Twenty first avenue. The mother is dead and the father a confirmed drunkard. The sheriff was ordered to place the boys with county commissioners until the hearing. May day was set for the hearing and the father cited to appear and show cause.

Fifteen fathoms of chain cable have been hauled, leaving sixty fathoms between the scow and the wreck in thirty four fathoms of water. Once the full cable length is taken up, the ship can be towed to shallow water where lifting will be easier.

Mrs. W. T. Heinemann, formerly of Chicago, was struck by a street car in Los Angeles this afternoon and died about an hour later. She was the wife of a Chicago drug manufacturer who moved with his family to Los Angeles several years ago.
Officers found the body of a baby buried behind a home in Rhugengre or Rhugenge. The infant weighed about eight pounds with hair and long nails, wrapped in clothes. The coroner's jury ruled the child was born alive and died by unknown means. Police questioned the girl and her family, who claimed the birth was stillborn.
Between 11 and 12 last night ex Mayor David Gailley was wounded by a gunfire through a window while asleep in Sparta. Mrs M F E Willard was arrested after tracks between the house and boarding house were traced and a caliber cartridge found in her room. A pistol and empty chamber found nearby add to circumstantial evidence. Willard is wife of Swan Creek pioneer and Gailly's former Maculty attorney.

Two hand cars on the Erie railroad collided three miles east of Ravenna. Twenty two section hands were aboard.
