Siege Expected as Japanese Landings Reported

A telegram to the St Petersburg commandant at Port Arthur states that on May 1 at 4 PM the enemy crossed the Yalu river in force and that on May 5 they executed an important landing on the Liaotung peninsula near Kin Chow bay. Government plans to form vast Harbin reserve in August

Japanese Hero Hirose Honored in State Funeral Parade

Commander Hirose died in the Port Arthur action and was buried in Rouma cemetery after a state funeral in Tokyo. Death at Sea A machinist commits suicide aboard Rainier

J Lothonee a San Francisco machinist leaped from the Rainier near Willapa harbor after a protracted spree. He was rescued from the water but died aboard the steamer. A $42.60 purse and union membership card were found, with addresses of Seattle machine shops. Body brought to Seattle morgue.

Sailor Drowns After Fall From Moran's Dock

Sven Peterson a sailor on leave from the Abbie Palmer fell from Moran's dock yesterday afternoon while attempting to reach his ship. He was drunk at the time and was quickly recovered but died. Coroner Hoye investigated and the body was taken to Bonney-Watson morgue. The funeral is likely under the Seamen's union.

Miner Killed by Boulder at Renton Coal Mines

Frank Zonato, a 35 year old single coal miner, was crushed by a rock weighing a ton at the Renton mines last evening. No eye witnesses. body found under rock after the avalanche. Coroner Hoye to hold an inquest and the body lies at a Renton undertaking establishment.

A large crowd filled McKeever's hall on Green Lake's south shore to celebrate the Green Lake Co-operative store opening. Guests came from Seattle and other areas along the lake, joining Green Lake residents in the event.
