In Ark New Jersey a sensational breach of promise suit ends with a $7,500 verdict for Ida E B Smith a school teacher against Charles W an aged retired undertaker who sought $50,000. The case cites the defendant’s alleged physical condition and a juror instruction about marriage demands.
Brooks, identified as the alleged Seat 64 piece counterfeit parser, appeared for a preliminary hearing before A Jonder Kiefer and was bound over in a federal grand jury action.

Walter Collins aged 79 was buried yesterday under Key and Stewart guidance. He had lived in Port Birkeley for 15 years and was brought to the city for interment.
Detective Bar bee and ¢ arrested Fred Thompson a colored boy aged 14 for an unmention able crime. The complaining witness is Fred Thompson. Lewis pleaded guilty and was bound over to the superior court with bonds fixed at 1,000.
Wm Poznanski was arrested Saturday on suspicion of fencing at his Washington Street residence and remains in the city jail. No charges have been filed yet. Chief Meredith says detectives continue the case and a hearing date has not been set.
The Times recalls a long proposed Queen Anne hill tunnel plan, traced to Mr Caldwell and briefly sketched years ago by the old Front street cable road superintendent. City engineer Mr Thompson says no current talks or consultations have occurred since Caldwell’s initial proposal. Seattle Electric road manager Dickinson has offered no comment.

Gibert Ewats, 19, an expressman, was arrested on Grant Street bridge by Officer Bevan for malicious destruction of property. Police report he broke street lamps with a whip. He faces a police court hearing today.

The revenue cutter Grant arrived from Port Townsend this morning. The steamship Oregon is at Quartermaster harbor under repair. The schooner Martha W Tult cleared for Nome yesterday with empty barrels and salt. The collier Mackinaw arrived from San Francisco this morning.

In San Francisco on May 6 the body of Chas McCormick a discharged soldier just back from the Philippines was found in a St Davids room with an executioner's black cap and a strap at the neck. He had been dead about a week. Police could not determine if he killed himself or was murdered by an unknown person though suicide is suspected.
