A chaotic cacophony of wartime slogans and local figures frames a bond drive in Seattle. Campaigners praise buyers like Nellie and Joe King while lampooning holdouts, with critics urging personal sacrifice to support veterans and the nation.
Fremont F. Boyer a 16 year old pupil wrote a private note as he swallowed strychnine and lay dying. He confessed forging his mother's name to be excused, feared humiliation from the school fraud, and expressed no courage in dying. The parents found the note, description of death and illegible writing noted as he faded.
University of Washington crews won the varsity race by five feet over California in Oakland. Stanford finished third, twelve lengths back. California led early, Washington closed gap to win as both teams surged to 42 strokes at the finish. California also won the freshman race.

He demanded $20 000 for an antidote he claimed would counteract poison he said was inoculated in their systems. Judge Killets described Thorn as mentally unbalanced in delivering the sentence.
Fresh from eastern and western Washington triumphs the official Victory loan trophy train bearing war veterans and their battle scarred mementoes will arrive at King Street Station at 10 03 p m Saturday. The train has toured towns since April 25 along the N P route and will be on exhibit at the N P station in the University district Sunday morning before returning to King Street for shows at 2 7 and 9 p m. Two hundred Starhewa merchants applauded at the Pantawén theatre Friday night as guests of Eddie Milne, the theatre manager, with the Star office staff leading a march to VPantages and home with memories of a big night.
Base Hospital No. 50 soldiers from Seattle arrive by troop train at 2:30 pm Saturday. Nurses follow at 8:45 pm with a welcome banquet at the Red Cross Jumble Shop hosted by Judge F. W. Brown. speeches by Lieut. Col. Eugene Allen and Dr. J. St. Eagleson.

In New York the widow of Vernon Castle, Irene Castle, marries Capt. Robert Treman of Ithaca after noon at the Little Church Around the Corner. Mrs Castle lists age 20 and Treman 30 on the license.
Rome reports say Italian headquarters allege ambassadors from the United States Britain and France in Rome are pressing for the return of Italian peace delegates to Paris. Washington notes Italy desires to participate and asks the conference to prepare ground for their return. The Italian government says the peace conference should respond to Wilsons appeal and his Fiume statement.
