Theodore Roosevelt opened his Maryland delegation campaign today in Salisbury with large crowds and spoke at nearby towns.
Milwaukee report states five year old William Bahr died from burns after a 16 year old, described as de mented, pushed him into a bonfire beside a railroad track. Witnesses and the mother describe repeated pushing and shouting as the child burned while bystanders watched. The coroner investigates.
Seattle humane juvenile and rescue departments report 205 of 274 juvenile cases settled out of court with youths returned to parents. The three-branch unit investigated 295 cases. most serious were robbery and burglary, one each. Sixty two youths caused damage by breaking windows. no disturbing the peace or concealed weapons cases. Rescue work assisted 29 people, with four horses and seven pets killed. Eleven officers manage duties across departments.
Fred Reich and Harry Reich ages 23 were arrested by Sergeant Fuqua on the Burke building fifth floor. Police say they had about 772 in cash and over 600 in jewelry including diamonds and scarf pins. They face a charge of peddling without a license while claiming to be fur dealers from New York.
A heated fight is anticipated in Arcade Hall over 121 delegates to the state convention at Aberdeen on May 15. Delegates are split 69 for district quotas and 52 at large, with Roosevelt supporters holding a majority and La Follette adherents pushing a progressive platform.
