Homer Davenport, renowned cartoonist and author of Cartoons and The Dollar Mark, died suddenly in his New York apartment. His work helped spur anti cartoon legislation and he once visited Arabia receiving permission to export 27 Arabian horses to America.
A Seattle girl of about 20 recalls growing up in the city near 12th and Madison. She left a planned opera career after performing on stage with the act Mother and her little friend De Grocsart. She then toured vaudeville from Washington to the Midwest, saying she could have made more money staying home.
Frank Webb and James Lisle, two escapees from the Nevada State Prison farm, are in flight with two horses. Prison guards report the convicts were stationed about a mile from the farm and escaped during the night. The men are described as desperate.

A street quarrel during a socialist parade turned into a personal fist fight between George A. Cramer of Aberdeen and the party’s flag bearer Christenson. Police, including 100 extra officers, quelled the disturbance on Seconday and Union streets as the crowd dispersed after the flag was recovered and the salute restored.

The house and senate rivers and harbors committee increased waterway funding by eight million dollars as part of a bill bringing total to twenty four million for improvements. Notable allocations include the Columbia river segments at Celilo falls to Dalles rapids and above Celilo falls, Oregon slough, Lower Willamette river, Nehalem harbor in Oregon, Valdez dikes in Alaska, and mouth of the Yukon river improvements.
