International Shingleweavers Union orders a general strike in District No 1 from Seattle headquarters if mills refuse to meet wage scales. In Everett and Hoquiam jurisdictions many mills walked or granted demands. Olympia mills mostly paid. District includes about 2500 union men. several hundred already out. Separate reports from Youngstown and Cincinnati note machinist strikes for eight hours and minimum wage with mixed success.
Dublin reports say all rebel commanders have surrendered after heavy fighting around St Stephen's Green and the Parnell monument. About 1,200 rebels were captured, 200 killed or wounded, and property damage estimated at 10 million dollars as troops search for arms amid city ruins. Rations are issued to the starving population.
Rioters seize the post office and attack notable buildings near the Lord Nelson monument. Gunpowder Office stands at left as Sir Roger Casement is shown with residents urging authorities to recover commandeered cars. British forces search homes with two soldiers per family. Rebels Pearse and Connolly seek surrender terms but are told to lay down arms. Connolly dies and Pearse is wounded. Star Want advert closes.

A crowd welcomed the Suffrage Special carrying 23 Congressional Union envoys to Seattle. Mrs Frances Axtell and Harriet Stanton Blatch framed a bold campaign to write woman's suffrage into the constitution, urging votes to unite women and form a national Woman's party in Chicago.
The Star releases a suffrage edition Tuesday at 1 30 pm led by editor Mrs Harriet Stanton Blatch with a team of suffragist workers. University girls and other women who volunteered to sell were deterred by shyness, so regular newsies remain on the job.

General Scott and General Funston again refuse to negotiate with Obregon on withdrawal from Mexico. The administration says Carranzistas must cooperate with the expedition and warns a withdrawal could trigger renewed border raids. Baker pressed Wilson for clear guidance as the Obregon Scott talks proceed.
About four thousand workers across carpenters elevator crews and streetcar men went on strike May 1. In Akron six thousand carpenters push for closed shop eight hour day and 65 cents an hour. In Fort William sixteen hundred grain elevator workers joined a total of two thousand strikers. In Pittsburgh street car workers walked off with talks continuing past midnight yielding agreements on most points except wages leaving a quarter million riders without service.
Mary Cole, an Indian woman known to police, confessed to murdering Rose Wilson with an ax in a Vancouver cabin at 736 Alexander Street after a quarrel over dinner prep. Cole claimed Wilson rushed her, and Cole wrestled the weapon, inflicting fatal injuries while both had been drinking.
Representatives of the International Longshoremen's Union from every Pacific coast port gather at the Labor Temple for an annual convention to discuss demands for better working conditions and a possible wage increase. President John Kean of San Francisco notes uncertainty about a general strike. reports planned for Tuesday.
Seattle and Tacoma police coordinate to stop intercity liquor smuggling by car. Officers report large amounts moved nightly from Seattle to bootleggers on the Sound and have made multiple arrests. Police seized 50 gallons of whisky in a car at 1628 Terry Avenue. A suspect charged with selling whisky labeled wild cherry pop faced bail.
Washington May 1 A substantial agreement with the senates plan for army reorganization was reached in conference today. It is regarded as a marked triumph for big army advocates.
