Lincoln Neb March 27 The anti Thompson seceders tried to swing a joint ballot by nominating Judge Paul Jeguon of Nebraska City. Only four ballots voted for him and the plan collapsed. Rosewater drops two votes for the long term to Baldridge. Final ballot due tomorrow. Election appears hopeless.
In Havana on March 27 the dispute between Gov Gen Wood and former legal adviser Horatio Reubens widens into a public scandal. Reubens alleges Wood seeks to frame him over alleged legitimate dealings as Reubens represented Havana Gas Co and helped cut petroleum duties. Reubens says he earned 6000 dollars, and Wood orders a court inquiry. Also implicated is Senor Quesada, a former Cuban delegate to Washington.
