City to push municipal light system amid new funding

Within two weeks the city will compete in the local electric lighting field as it sells the lighting plant and rail bond issue to Halsey Co. A 250 000 fund enables expansion of the plant and distribution network. The board of works has many applications for municipal light and plans new rates likely lower than Seattle Electric. Pole and wire work continues, with 600 private lighting poles in place and more to come, alongside street light expansion and transformer purchases at a savings of 1 800 on transformers and 5 000 on the 500 lamps.
