Reports describe a violent storm sweeping through the city as rain, lightning, and strong winds toppled buildings on Twenty Fourth Street. Hotels suffered damage, sidewalks were torn, telegraph wires were cut, and current outages hindered recovery efforts as rescue crews assessed the wreckage.

Multiple robberies reported this morning in the tenderloin area include $60 stolen from Dr. Givans after he slept in a roof over the Goo Goo Eye saloon on Main Street. Other thefts involve an engine steam gauge and whistle, clothing, and a trunk tied to a local expressman.
The month of January reports show exports valued at $2 856 04 and imports $2 254 212, with imports down from January. February figures note 42 deep sea vessels arriving, 16 sailing journeys, 49 departures, and receipts from wharves totaling 44 9.

The Kellogg dynamometer at the YMCA was used for police and fire tests, measuring overall body strength. City expenses totaled 3355.67 dollars.

Isaac Horeell sits in the superior court charged with assault with intent to murder his wife after she left him for a divorce. John Cousina, a wealthy Lopez Island farmer, arrived home with two companions after a three month visit to Waterbrook Iowa. The party plans to settle on Lopez Island, which Cousina has praised highly.
Globe Navigation Co steamer Mur eka reaches Honolulu from Seattle after a 16 day voyage. First mate J W O Conner and second mate Geo Manefield suffered serious injuries in a heavy storm with O Conner injured by a fall and Manefield breaking two ribs after falling into the hold.
A small basement fire at Star Paint Co on Pike Street at 1:20 this morning prompted an alarm. The blaze was quickly extinguished with little or no loss of property and no serious injuries reported.
Policeman John Huff quelled a small riot at the Montana stables on Fourth avenue south early today. Janes Link and Arthur Flynn were arrested and charged with assault and battery after returning to settle matters following their discharge from the stables.
The Federated Women’s clubs hosted an afternoon lecture by F E Cooper superintendent of schools on education and the public school system. The turnout was large and the talk well received. The club will meet again next Monday afternoon.
US COMPLETE reports Shemaka rocked by a Sunday tremor after a month of earthquakes. No deaths this time but widespread devastation remains and most houses are not to be rebuilt. Government aid helps debris clearing while residents flee to the hills. about 12,000 people are housed locally.
At noon today after a conference with Longshoremen's Union officials a strike was declared. On the whistle blow the dock workers walked off the job while pickets tried to sway imported Italian laborers at the Hoston and Maine freight warehouse into not working. A fight erupted and police ended the clash. riots are feared.
Senators Perkins and Hard received a telegraph from the California Miners Association asking for an investigation into reports that scrippers in Bakersfield district seek to remove Land Commissioner Herman and Secretary Hitchcock who ruled against them. Hard thought a movement may be under way, while Perkins saw no substantiation.
March 11 report from London states General Kitchener received word through Delarey’s men that Methuen’s thigh wound is very dangerous and he will receive the best possible treatment.
St Paul March 11 The legislature adjourned the special session after passing a bill that appropriates 25000 dollars to furnish the attorney general with funds to prosecute the fight against the Northern Pacific and Great Northern railway merger.
In Poseyville the Hosemann and Waters bank cafe was blown open this morning and about 2300 dollars stolen. The bank had shipped eighteen thousand dollars yesterday, which robbers presumably sought.
A bank in Karl Park, Lafayette, was robbed of $1000 by safe blowers this morning. They could not open the main money vault.
Pharos Burdick an unmarried man of 40 was committed today by Judge Tallman to the insane asylum. He claims a death sentence and persecution by his associates. He has repeatedly warned the sheriff that bees buzz around his head. Hope is he will not be bothered by bees in the asylum.
J M Dean a YMCA evangelist and former Philippines international committee member has set up headquarters at the local association. He will soon depart to hold a series of meetings in Iverett or Aberdeen after returning from a health-related layoff abroad.

Mrs. R. W. Emmons of the Ladies' Musical Club told a Star reporter this morning the rumor of a club house is false. She said the club is not in a prosperous condition to warrant building but hopes for own rooms in the future, though it may not be soon.
The Bertha of the Alaska Commercial line arrives Friday from Victoria and sails north Sunday. Captain Carroll says the steamer has been thoroughly overhauled and refitted and is in effect a new boat.
A meeting of Geo. H. Fortson Camp No. 1 National Association of Spanish American War Veterans is set for tomorrow evening in the G. A. R. hall led by Commander Cal Welbon.
M M Moss head of the Y M C A education department is home ill and may miss days. Dr B F Hast will lecture tonight before the Y M C A political club on The Millionaire Evil.
Herman G Mehner, claiming a David and Goliath crusade, appeared with a sling and large knife or revolver. Humane Officer Ridgeway challenged him between Third and Second. after a struggle with Wickman Bannock and Herkman he was taken to police headquarters. An inquest on his sanity is expected.
The Puget Sound district report from Port Townsend shows total imports 1 353 413 and exports 4 261 536 for February 1902. Port breakdown lists Seattle as the leading port with 1 114 609 in imports and 924 361 in exports. other ports include Port Townsend Northport Blaine Anacortes Roche Harbor and more. Entrances totaled 163 vessels with tonnage 96 287 and clearances 156 vessels at 107 262 tons.
Taxpayers who did not receive receipts under ex Treasurer Whittlesey will soon be issued their tax receipts. Judge Tallman ruled receipts must be issued, with Prosecuting Attorney Fulton and county officials endorsing the decision. Deputy Auditor Agnew compiled a list of 1650 memorandum receipts. The shortage amount will be charged to Whittlesey.
