New battleship Maine launched in Delaware harbor

Philadelphia July 27 the battleship Maine was launched with ceremony as thousands cheered. Miss Preble Anderson of Portland christened the ship breaking a bottle of American wine on the hull. The Maine is described as far superior to the warship blown up at Havana harbor in 1898 and follows the Ohio launched in San Francisco during President McKinley’s Pacific coast visit.

Insane Passenger Detained After Train Incident

Mrs. Lizzie Olson, a refined young woman, went violently insane on a Northern Pacific train from Spokane.
