Secretary Long announces the Schley court will include Admiral Dewey, retired Rear Admiral Kimberly, and retired Rear Admiral Benham. The first sitting is September 12 and the hearing will be public. Both Schley and Sampson partisans approve the selection as fair.
The Poer legation at Amsterdam reports that another general invasion of Caps Colony has begun, signaling renewed hostilities and strategic moves in the region.

In Ballard a man named Prosper Murdoch, about four years old with dark hair and smooth face, sought ready money prompting his wife to wait at the bank and City Marshal search. No check or dealings found at Stimson Mill Co, officials suspect the man aimed to deceive Mrs Murdoch.
Nome’s Pacific Clipper line reports a record run from Limbo to Nome this morning with 27 passengers including Mr J M of the Alaska Commercial Co. and reports of rising mining activity due to warmer weather. The list of names from the Mat area includes Ira Brown A O Stengie D C Loley F Stuart H W Crosby F C Barrow F Jensen and many others.
Seattle and vicinity expect fair conditions tonight and Friday with light to moderate winds from the north and west. No precipitation indicated. Temperatures remain mild for the period.
One horse of the Butterworth Undertaking Co. White team was fatally wounded at Lakeview cemetery. Nathan Anderson was driving when a curved stick on the road caused the eticx to fly up and enter the abdomen, killing the horse within minutes. The animal was among the companys most valuable funeral team horses.
In Pittsburgh on July 25 the Amalgamated association watches the Me Koreeport and Wellsville mill men dispute. Strikers sent to Wellsville by a trust agency to incite violence to justify injunctions. President Shaffer reportedly visited Wellsville undercover as a tramp.
In Leavenworth Kansas on July 5 Michael Kelly shot and killed John R. Garrett a junior member of Hubert Garrett Lamber Co Doctor Charles McVee was fatally shot Police Sergeant W A Dodge and Detectives Michael McDonald and an unnamed laborer were wounded Kelly was shot and beaten to death by officers after the attack He had recently been released from a madhouse and had announced his intention to murder for several days prior to the tragedy.
J C Thoma heads petition movement to refuse saloon licenses. He says petitions are progressing well and plans to fill papers by tomorrow night. Interested persons urged to call 404 New York block or phone Main 6969 to obtain petitions and gather signatures.
The Derby Connecticut machinists' strike, which led to the Gager injunction, is settled. Workers will resume work on Monday.
Floods in Lemberg Austria July caused a tenement wall collapse killing thirty three people. Rescue teams recovered victims as emergency crews fought to stabilize the area and search for survivors.
Postmaster Stewart informs Washington of plans to establish a substation under Seattle supervision at Green Lake. If approved, a clerk will serve Green Lake and free delivery could begin after census figures reach 16 000. Citizens await official written authority and prompt service.

Judge Hanford rules United States vs Christopher Kopp not guilty for selling whisky to an Indian on the Puyallup reservation. Court says Puyallup lands deeded by government are not held in trust and that Indians with deeds are citizens free to buy liquor, with prohibition for students without lands.
