Butte Defeated by Seattle in Athletic Park Game
Notwithstanding McCloskey's attempts to win by abusing the umpire, Seattle outclassed the Hut in every facet yesterday at Athletic park. Dewlley struggled for the visitors, walking 12 and yielding two wild pitches despite only three hits. Seattle opened the scoring in the second. Kelly walked, Dalrymple and Campbell singled, and Rehwarts drove in three on a misplay. Butte mounted a reply in the third, McHale scoring on Ward and Hart’s error aiding Kane’s homer in the fifth. Beattie added two more for Seattle in the seventh as McCloskey again clashed with the umpire, receiving a $5 fine from MacCarthy. Portland and Spokane results noted. Helena shut out by Wriggs as standings proceed.
