Evicted by Jap landlord over unpaid increased rent

Mrs. Fannie Singer, widow with three children, was evicted from 115 18th Ave by deputy sheriffs after a judge ordered removal. The landlady's replacement, a Japanese importer, had raised the rent from 14 to 40 dollars, prompting Singer to seek housing with no success. Furniture was removed as a 15 year old girl witnessed, and neighbors noted the landlord’s profit focus.
