Lum You, a fourbed murderer, was captured near Bend around 9 o clock and jailed. County Commissioners offered a $200 reward for his capture as officers pursued him through woods about eight miles distant after a liquor-fueled escape.
In Liverpool on January 17 a London based steamship owner confirms Morgan plans to transfer White Star Line to the American ocean shipping combine. The move will begin on the arrival of White Star representatives with other lines likely to merge within weeks. Henry D Norris Jr, 27, of 611 Cherry Street, is missing after rising from his rooms on Monday and police are alerted.
Washington January 17. St Louis World's Fair managers here will urge Congress to postpone the celebration from 1908 to 1904 arguing foreign governments will not be ready to display next year but would be prepared in 1904. Captain Jones steered through a heavy sou'easter and blinding sleet, refueling failure and fierce seas before reaching Yakutat and Juneau.
