Tragedy on Capitol Hill as two bandits fight patrolmen
On Capitol Hill at 7 20 P M two bandits Ford and Nist confronted Patrolmen Davis and Smith in plain clothes. Davis was killed and Smith wounded but the two officers captured both hold up men after a gun battle. Ford and Nist were shot and captured, with Ford in critical condition and Nist found in a four foot deep hole. Davis, a Syracuse graduate and four year Army veteran, died at Butterworth's hospital while Smith recovered from injuries.
