John L. Mountain a 35 year old city fireman was found guilty of manslaughter by a four coroner's jury for the death of R. Kyle a janitor killed when Mountain's automobile struck him at Filth ave and Dearborn. The jury found Mountain partly intoxicated and driving at excessive speed with no safety precautions. He was arrested and held in King county jail on $1000 bail.
In Port Arthur Texas today four people were killed and two others seriously injured when a street car collided with a Gulf Company truck carrying workers. The car turned over and pinned occupants beneath it, with rescue workers working about an hour to extricate the bodies.
Holiday shoppers seek a home by the New Year. A two bedroom bungalow with bath living room kitchen and basement offers immediate possession at $2,200 with $300 cash and monthly balance. The ad notes a lot 40100 and directs readers to the Want Ad section for location.
Seattle motorists are asked to lend cars for Saturday’s Christmas carol rounds by 200 West Seattle High School singers visiting hospitals and orphanages from 2:30 to 6:00 p m. Twenty two civilian employees of the Brooklyn naval base were arrested on grand jury indictments charging more than one million dollars worth of goods stolen from the base over three years. Twenty three men named. arrests supervised by William J Burns. Clerks chauffeurs laborers among those taken to federal building amid plans for more indictments and further arrests.
Detroit judge Charles L Bartlett orders psychopathic examinations for speeding and reckless driving violators to assess mental fitness. He also expands jail penalties, claiming the approach reduces repeat offenses and saves lives, with Dr A L Jacoby in charge of assessments.
Two men armed with revolvers held J. B. Williams, manager of the Montana assay office, at gunpoint in Portland late Tuesday night. They took loose change and the box contents, intending gold, but the box held copper worth about 60 cents at market.

Jack Lehman of Hotel Lee found a box he thought contained aspirin but contained bichloride of mercury. He experienced stomach pains and was taken to City Hospital where Dr Firestone treated him with first aid. Doctors expect his recovery.

An incendiary fire struck the Luther residence at 8445 18th Ave, causing full destruction of the structure. Firefighters found a basement blaze at 1:46 p.m. and, hours earlier at 1:40 a.m., a second fire had been noticed as it spread. the family was evacuated. The loss is reportedly fully covered by insurance.
