Burne acknowledged Jean Loupy, a French restaurateur tied to the case, sought to alter his grand jury testimony claiming Ruef had missed him.
Jack Burns alias Jack Henry was arrested by Constable Klein for creating a disturbance and threatening Mary Stein who runs a lodging house at 1112 Washington st. He allegedly damaged seven windows and other property in a love feud then threatened the woman to call the police. Judge Gordon set bail at 250 dollars.
Cattle men and coal mine operators testified before Commissioner Prouty in Kansas City on December 26. They complained of losses from inability to ship to markets while Prouty suggested railroads will likely set a 2 cent fare after rebates were halted.
A street car hit a coal wagon at Pike Street and Ninth Avenue scattering coal and frightening horses. The wagon crashed into a telephone pole as it turned into an alley. The driver Frank Gowen escaped injury while his 12 year old son suffered serious bruises and possible injuries.
Harold Wurater a 10 year old boy died after touching a live Seattle Lighting wire near his home at 201 Northlakely. The fallen pole and eroded base on First Avenue North East caused the accident. Deputy coroner and funeral plans follow at Bonney Watson's. He leaves two sisters and a widowed mother.
Police hunt for Al Rudorfer a Jewish commission dealer in diamonds accused of stealing at least 2600 dollars in jewels from Chicago brokers and local pawnbrokers. Described as tall he lived in Beattie about two months and operated by befriending brokers then keeping proceeds. He initially returned funds then vanished with the diamonds after selling on commission.
United States Attorney P. C. Sullivan filed informations against the Frank Waterhouse Company and the captain of the British bark Olivebank. They are charged with refusing to deport AI Schmitz, a German seaman held in the county jail after going insane. Bench warrants were issued for Waterhouse and the captain.

James Anderson chief engineer of the Pacific Coast Coal company told Governor Mead’s commission at the Chamber of Commerce that Black Diamond mine run coal is the only immediate remedy to Washington’s coal shortage. He said relief will come after Christmas due to labor layoff, strikes in Fernie and rising demand, and noted Pacific Coast depends on the state. He denied being in a price-raising combine, acknowledging rumors of car-order favoritism with agent Hall. Kirkpatrick of Centralia mine testified his plant produces 160 tons daily and denied lack of care. The session continued after a break.
