Air flight tragedy ends life of San Diego woman

Mrs. Comstock, 76, died after a flying boat wing collapsed at 100 feet over the bay. Aviator O. B. Meyerhoffer was seriously injured as the craft plunged into the water. Rescue by sailors and resuscitation attempts failed for the passenger, the oldest aboard on record. The machine’s owners attributed the failure to faulty wing fittings and the crash caused shock. A sailor recovered Mrs. Comstock’s body from the wreckage.

Mayor Gill Drops Tax Fight On City Bonds

Mayor Gill states readiness to include 200000 for refund bonds in the budget. He admits the anti tax line was bunk and that delaying payment would incur interest. The city debt falls due in 1916 and the plan eliminates the so called low tax claim by funding now.

The Tilmore state board of health filed charges against Dr. H J Haiselden of Chicago, accusing him of gross unprofessional conduct for deliberately letting Baby Pollinger die without surgical attention, despite parental approval.

Peachy to Speak on Foreign Exchange at YMCA Meeting

W. S. Peachy, cashier of the Seattle National Bank, will give an address on Foreign Exchange at the monthly meeting of the Accountant Club of the YMCA Accounting School. The program is set for 8 p.m. Friday.

A note posted on a DuPont Powder plant magazine warned of an explosion at 4 a.m. today. Extra guards were stationed at the Tacoma, Washington plant, but the threat did not materialize.

H R O Hara of 1520 Fifth Ave joined a party at Tate cafe then to 105 Pike St apartments. A card game led to a brawl. O Hara won $20 but was assaulted as others rioted and valuables were stolen including a diamond ring a gold watch a nugget pin and $75 in cash. Duncan Nichie of Fairbanks reports his brother died at Dardanelles.

President Wilson and Mrs Galt Obtain Wedding License

The license listing President Wilson aged 59 and Mrs. Norman Galt aged 45 was issued in Washington on December 16. Rev. Herbert Scott Smith of St. Margaret's Episcopal church to officiate at the wedding, with Chief Usher Irwin Hoover paying one dollar for the license.

Women mob judge in civic club suit

Wrathy members of the Woman's Civic club surrounded Judge Dykeman after he denied their restraining order against another club they claimed stole their name. The judge could not speak as the crowd blocked his exit. Bailiff rescued him. Judge J M Glasgow said an appeal to the state supreme court will follow.

Three bandits halted a Kansas City Southern passenger train near Eagleton Arkansas. They forced the engineer to detach two baggage cars and the mail car, then dynamited the express car and robbed the mail. They secured little of value.
