The Star announces a Fell of Honor ranking of Seattle figures with J. e Monceanti at the head. Prizes await ballot checks and will follow published rules. photographs and sketches accompany profiles of ten prominent citizens including Davis and others, with life overviews and public works noted.
Mrs. W. E B. Finley a stenographer, shot and killed Frank Taughenbaugh at his home after a confrontation at the Frederick & Nelson store. Finley, 10-year-old daughter Madge with her, surrendered. Tanghenbaugh died at Providence hospital. Finley claims self defense amid conflicting statements.
Two masked men robbed The Green Leaf saloon at 12 oclock in the morning taking about 16 dollars from the cash drawer. They forced bartender W. H. Weed and two patrons to chairs with revolvers ready as police searched for suspects. no arrests reported.
Harsh weather conditions marked the opening day of the Minnesota State golf championship at Town and Country club in St Paul. The three day event draws entrants from Minneapolis St Paul St Cloud Winona Rochester Duluth and Faribault with focus on the Spalding cup held by Town and Country club.
Alexandria hosts the Louisiana division United Confederate Veterans annual convention with Lone of Veterans delegates. This first joint gathering includes notable addresses and aims to elect officers for the coming year as the two organizations meet over two days.

Superior Judge Bell, on motion by the prosecuting attorney, dismissed the case of the State v. Alice fed Leonard Gilson, mother and son, charged with assault and battery against mounted officers at Green Lake. They were convicted in a justice court and appealed.
The American-Hawaiian steamship Texan sails from San Francisco today carrying 660 miles of Alaska cable aboard Burnside. Californian arrives at San Prendiece from New York. Texan carries 1006 tons general freight for this port and will leave to return to New York.
Bishop T. Shaffer of the African Methodist conference spoke at Rankin Hall on Western Africa. Several hundred colored residents of Beattie and Tacoma attended as he condemned removal to Africa as nonsensical and urged colored citizens to stay, raise the race's intellectual standard, and work out salvation here.
The twenty second annual gathering of the American Street Railway Association will convene in Saratoga Baratoma with hundreds of prominent street railway figures from the United States and Canada. An extensive three day program of papers and discussions is planned, alongside the annual meeting of the Association of Street Railway Accountants.
The Pacific National Baseball League directors will meet in Butte on Thursday to adjust the current four club schedule and discuss forming an eight club league next year. The Spokane meeting previously set has been moved to Butte.
In Los Angeles a dispute erupted between firemen and street car workers over fare payments. Railway officials claimed firemen should ride free, while chiefs refused passenger passes and threatened to dismiss all firemen who would pay fares.
Police arrested HM W Hayney and his wife on suspicion of highway robbery. Hayney confessed to many hold ups in Seattle over the past month and claimed a criminal start in Forest Grove Oregon. He admitted robbing Ed Martin Joenne and Welby last Thursday and Fay on Miner Avenue and Olive Street, denying the Little Drug Store robbery. He blamed the plan for bringing his wife along and said he deserves years for the crime and another ten for hiring a horse. He spoke after lengthy police questioning following confinement in the jail black hole.

An explosion tore the crown sheet of a Lake Shore locomotive at Weet Girard early today. Fireman John Rarna was killed and engineer Charles Albright and brakeman John Cleary were seriously injured.
