In St Petersburgh Aur Mel Ivoneya a wealthy society leader and her two daughters were found murdered today with grotesque mutilation. One victim held a lock of hair. authorities suspect a jealous woman. The sensational case unsettles high society circles.
Peter Johnson a fly and contractor entered a residence at 1010 Tenth Avenue North at 4 a.m. and played a piano with a loaded revolver. Officers Burkman and Heoesier wrestled him to seize the weapon which proved unloaded. Johnson was arrested on insanity charges and taken to the county jail after initial police reports.
A brisk race yesterday between the Arrow and the Inland Flyer from Pleasant Beach to the navy-yard town ended with the Arrow winning by about five minutes. The Flyer battled heavy eddies in Port Orchard Narrows as crowds on shore cheered, but the Arrow maintained pace and flashed flames from its stack as spectators waved.
A notable gathering of leading Episcopal bishops occurred as Rev. Edward Fawcett was consecrated bishop of Quincy at St. Bartholomew's Church Englewood. The consecrator, Bishop George F. Seymour of Springfield, was assisted by several eminent church figures.
Reports describe underground detonations off Unimak Island Alaska causing tremors felt on board the Uranus and the Carrier Dove during a May cod fishing trip. Llandudno famed swimmer Professor Walter Beaumont, 48, born Mamfermith, saved 9 people as a youth and reportedly 210 lives during 27 years in Llandudno. A complimentary banquet honored him with an address and gold watch.
In Chicago early today waiters and cooks from union controlled restaurants walked out after a night of unrest as business agents attempted to notify staff. James Wiger of Helena pitched twenty two innings over two games for Salt Lake and won both in a long double header against Seattle. First game ended Salt Lake six Seattle two. second game Salt Lake four Beattie Hickey pitched. final score four to three. Marry Maupin delivered a clutch two bagger in the ninth of the second game.
In an erratic afternoon Beattie defeated the city nine while counties tied or lost. Fisher and his squad stumbled as starter issues and miscues led to a lopsided score, with Beattie securing five-run hits and Vrain pitching unevenly. Other results show Oakland and San Francisco near misses in series play.
Western Washington residents of Welsh birth or ancestry plan a Beattie reunion on Labor Day with a picnic at Woodland pic. The event is expected to be one of the largest gatherings in the Northwest.

The board of equalization decided not to raise the Seattle Electric Company assessment, keeping the $1 705 708 valuation as is. Banks protest a proposed rise in their assessments citing a 7 year old agreement that taxes should be percent of real value, with a decision pending after further board sessions.
Police probe links Dryden to the San Juan burglary after his arrest near Seventh Avenue. He faced charges with city officials posting bail of six dollars furnished by A A Gengreve and Jenkins. Investigators press past records while denying witness cooperation.
The freight steamship Tampico arrived at noon carrying mail from St Michael and Nome. She passed the freighter Meteor northbound near Tiintmek pass after leaving those ports on August 16. No vessels were at the northern ports when she departed.
The Seattle Street Railway Employers Union met this afternoon to elect officers for another half year and to discuss the union stance. Another meeting tonight will pursue the same purpose and an employer from Seattle Electric Co will attend both gatherings to learn the car men’s precise attitude toward the company to prevent trouble.
The Inland Lakes Yachting Association regatta week fills Lake Winnebago with hundreds of yachts from Wisconsin Minnesota Michigan Indiana Illinois and lowa as members gather to contest the event.
Mrs. Mary Exgan and Peter Jacobson are the only victims reported to remain in hospital after the Fretiont Street car accident. Rath are rapidly recovering. Mrs. W Eden asks police to locate her husband missing since Saturday morning from 3214 Washington Street.
Mina Alix, a young French racing driver, tours the United States with her Panther car seeking contests. She holds French women’s speed records and expects to face top American veterans, possibly competing in Cleveland at the September auto race meet.
Mise Bessie Snewert Stewart, daughter of ex millionaire Sepster Stewart, opens a small shop in Mies Beach Newport but struggles after her father loses fortune. Once social patronage fades, she works as a woman’s furnishings retailer while having divorced from Lieut Hooker of the Navy. Erie had a won at Yale and one in the navy.
Twenty or more Paghew travelers from Seattle and other cities depart by Great Northern for New York to attend the Fraternal Order aerie on September 14. Led by A. K B. Partridge grand worthy secretary, Spokane joins Eastern Washington and Eastern British Columbia delegates, then proceeds to Minneapolis to board a special Wisconsin Central and Wabash train.
Aug 22 Bulgarian frontier reports say Turkish officers were captured at Adrianople and sent into Bulgaria where they were tried. Fierce fighting near Geogile caused heavy losses on both sides as Macedonian insurgents after a brutal battle burned Vasilike and twelve nearby villages in the Adrianople district.
The Humboldt sails tonight for Skagway with Governor Brady ex Governor Bwineford of Alaska and Herman Weis among passengers. The City of Beattie also reaches Skagway with Congressman R F Boulding aboard. Freight includes 60,000 feet of lumber for Tanner Clark and Northwestern Commercial Co. Leelanaw due to load 1,000 feet for Nome.
The board of public works reports completion of grading and curbing on Fourth Avenue West from Harrison to Mercer, grading on Union Street from Eighth to Ninth, and Ninth from Union to University, plus concrete sidewalks on Howard Avenue from Howell to Mercer. Also, the temporary truck house at First Avenue South and Jackson Street is vacated and referred for disposition. Separately, John Miles, a blind man, was committed to the insane asylum after claiming ownership of gold mines in Alaska. James Lewis, a horse trainer, fined $20 plus costs for merciful spurring a horse.#
