United Press Leased Wire reports 2500 Mexican rebels armed and moving north along the Sonora railway from Cananea to Nogales. They burn bridges and water tanks and threaten all railway property as small garrisons retreat. Federals from Cananea rush to Nogales to oppose the advancing rebels and head southward toward the invaders.
George H. Walker, Seattle progressive, will file for congress from this district on the Roosevelt ticket and is the third entrant in the September 7 primaries joining Senator Dan Landon and H. A. McLean. Grant county plans to enter progressive primaries with a full county ticket. New filings include C. E. Beach for state superintendent and M. H. Cushing for county clerk, with Allen Dale urged to file for county treasurer on the VP ticket.
J D Pitemaurice of 1418 Broadway was driving north on Tenthay yesterday afternoon when he passed an express wagon. He heard a noise and found Ambrose Goffman of 1516 Harvard lying unconscious on the pavement after apparently being struck by the auto. The boy suffered a deep head cut.
The circus matinee continues this afternoon with the concluding performance tonight at 8 o’clock. Doors open at 7. Location is Potlatch grandstand grounds at Fourth Avenue and Lenora.
Speaker Clark announced house leaders foresee adjournment by Saturday night or Sunday morning. The report comes as George Smith and Peter Parovich roam the city. New York reports Anna Held becoming a divorcee after a default decree granted yesterday. Held and Ziegfeld wed in 1898. the correspondent's name was not disclosed.
A burglar broke into G. F. Moore in Weet Se last night stealing an automatic revolver an automatic shotgun a rifle a 30 dollar pair of binoculars a pearl and gold opera pair of suits of clothes and a suitcase valued at 150 dollars. A reward was offered for information leading to the thief.
The circus proved too much for 9. G. Gholston of Kirkland as elephants performed. He was overcome by heat and an ambulance carried him to the city hospital for treatment.
