City commissioners who resisted pressure secured a tougher agreement with terminal promoters. The deal guarantees shared profits and posted forfeits to protect the port district’s finances and future operations.
Outline reveals Port of Seattle to lease blocks 404 and 405 on Seattle tide lands for 30 years. Pacific Terminal Co and Pacific Building Co promise $2.5 million and $600,000 respectively in spending with $1,500,000 bonds to back guarantees. Death appeared instantaneous with little water in his lungs and heart failure believed to be the cause. He leaves a wife and two children. His body to be taken to Portland for burial.
