Berlin reports a plot to kill the German emperor and Kaiser during a yacht boarding near Reval. Anarchists tried to board the imperial vessel but were seized and detained after failing to execute the plan.
Special to the Star, Victoria. Mrs Anna Fleming of North Park Street killed her daughter Pearl, 21, with an axe in the Woodshed. The father, John W Fleming, had recently died by his own hand. Mrs Fleming is in custody, claiming she was obeying her husband. The event followed mental distress and the family was well known in the city.
City debates locating a new public market with talks on using a hilltop land near Seventh Street or leasing two blocks of Jefferson Street east of Fourth Avenue for market sheds. Council may seek input from real estate experts and Chamber of Commerce to resolve the site obstacle.
