Mysterious lynching of farmer in Abotin Waah county

Special to The Star reports William Hamilton, a farmer accused of murdering 12 year old Mabel Richards, was seized by a mob of over 860 men from a jail at Abotin Waah. They overpowered guards, hanged him from a telegraph pole, then dispersed. Police expect no arrests. The victim was a popular girl from a prominent family.

Burglaries Hit Beacon Hill Neigh borhood Last Night

Burglars struck Beacon Hill last night robbing three homes on Thirteenth and Fourteenth avenues South. Frank Owens 7166 Thirteenth avenue South lost 11 dollars and a large revolver after entry via a cut screen pantry window. W Benton 201 Fourteenth avenue South and D D Stingerland 2000 Fourteenth avenue South also reported break ins. Entry at Benton used a pried front window. Stingerland used a pass key. Small value items and a few dollars were taken.

Degenerate Van Horst Weeps at Mention of Mother in Confession

George Van Aanelt, now known as George Van Horst, cries at his mother's name while confessing crime. He says he has spent his life a thief, spent youth in Victoria, Canada, and served six years for burglary. Police describe him as a sexual pervert and degenerate influenced by prison. He led detectives to recover watches stolen from Klondike mine owner I Appy, hidden atop a coal bunkers pile, while vowing not to be handcuffed.

Tragic Death of Fireman Voelger in Interurban Accident

George Voelger a fireman on a steam shovel was killed when a freight car ran him down six miles south of Auburn at 2 40 this morning. The car dragged his mangled body about six feet before stopping. Coroner Hoye and Deputy Coroner Wiltslein investigated. Voelger aged several years possibly had a brother in Ta ttle. No inquest planned.

Body found in Duwamish River near Meadows stables

The body of an unidentified man was found in the Duwamish River near The Meadows stables around 1 PM. Police were alerted, Deputy Coroner Isham was summoned, and the body was taken to the Bonney-Watson morgue for examination. Wheat prices were reported in Chicago trading.
