City plans outline budget for new fire station and city hall

The city contemplates securing land near Lake Union and between Fremont and Green Lake for a block site and permanent buildings costing just over 200000. Proceeds from property sales would fund payroll boosts of about 41008 yearly, with 35000 from the general fund. Funds from Milwaukee property sales would aid a new fire station site on Third Avenue and Pine Street, and additional sums for a permanent building, while 75000 may be asked from the general fund to extend streetcar tracks. Remaining Milwaukee proceeds could cover a city hall, as critics say the present building is near collapse and dangerous by fire risk.
