Brother of Seal Beach Woman Returns Home from Air Battles
First Lieutenant Leland E. Minor returns to El Monte after 300 combat hours and 438 missions in the Fifth Air Force. He recounts a daylight strike on Rabaul where his Liberator and five allied planes fought 50 Zeros for 45 minutes, shooting five enemy aircraft and narrowly escaping destruction by ten feet. Minor holds the Silver Star, DFC, Air Medal and Oak Leaf Cluster.
