Easter Sunrise Service Set at Community Church in Seal Beach

For the fourth consecutive year Seal Beach hosts an Easter Sunrise Service this year at the Community Church on Tenth and Central. Indoor setting due to foggy week promises warmer, lilies adorned surroundings. A 15-voice choir led by Carrie Lou Sutherland will perform classic hymns including Christ the Lord is Risen Today and Up From the Grave He Arose, with readings, prayers, and congregational singing. A brass trio from last year will reprise performances, enhancing the service.

Sand dumps listed by Seal Beach defense official

C A Miller chairman of the Public Works division of the Seal Beach Civilian Defense Council reports one truck load of sand placed on vacant lots near the alley at central block of South Electric avenue First street to Ocean avenue with one load per block. North of Electric avenue Seventh street to Bay Boulevard including Landing avenue blocks one load per block. The sand is for residents to create a home supply to extinguish bombs.

Seal Beach District Surpasses War Relief Fund Goal

Seal Beach Red Cross District tops its Emergency War Relief Fund with 1091.29 dollars raised, 24.29 over quota. Thanks go to key volunteers including Mrs. Constance Brown and the Seal Beach Girl Scouts Troop 1, with no overhead costs and local use of proceeds.

Polling Place Notices Sent for 1196 Voters in Seal Beach

City Clerk Ollie B. Padrick reports 1196 polling place cards issued for Seal Beach's April 14 municipal election. About 200 new registrations include new residents and movers since the last vote. Absentee ballots are issued to qualified voters unable to attend polling places with up to April 9 deadline. only one ballot issued by noon Tuesday.

City Events and Meetings Schedule List

A schedule of upcoming local events includes City Council in the council chamber at city hall on Thursday at 8 p m. Sunday features church services. Arm y Day and back to school activities on April 6. Delphian Society on April 7 with PTA at 2 30 p m in the school auditorium. Woman's Club officers elected April 8 at 2 p m in the Civic auditorium. City Election on April 14.

Industry Adjustments For Orange County Cities

The Associated Chambers shows coastal cities in Orange County miss state aid if their populations do not meet the 1940 census figure of 10 000. Only three OC cities qualify, none military hubs. Graves urges counties to press federal and state capitals with data while Newport Harbor is noted as a continuing point.

Cruiser Muneca wrecked by surf at Surf Side beach

The cruiser Muneca was battered ashore at Surf Side last Sunday night after its engine failed. Breakers dashed it onto the sand, reducing hull and cabin to tinder. Owners Harry Burnett of 830 Magnolia Ave and W R Chapman of 807 Daisy Ave Long Beach escaped unharmed aboard.

April Fool's Day Noted by Lions at Glide'er Inn

Lions club program at Glide'er Inn featured comic tricks during an April Fool's Day evening. Chief of Police Lee Howard's knife failed to cut, Councilman Felts struggled with a collapsible spoon, and Ben Krenwin's spoon held nothing. A. W. Stegen drew the cup that stuck to the saucer as members faced exploding cigars, rubber rock salt pepper candy, and a tire mystery auction raising $2 for the treasury. A Santa Fe Railroad film of Carlsbad Caverns offered serious entertainment, arranged by Miss McFee.
