Gannon's Case Returns to Supreme Court Quest for Habeas Corpus
Attorney Richard Busteed Jr files a writ of habeas corpus in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to free James Gannon, imprisoned for contempt after decades of a land dispute over a Swetland Street lot. Gannon has sat in the county jail for over two years, while his supporters say the case hinges on whether he paid the purchase money with his own funds. The issue centers on whether the land was always his or his mother’s, and whether he must execute a deed to satisfy court orders.
