A Thomson Ga correspondent reports Thomas E. Watson mailed his acceptance letter for the Populist vice presidential nomination to Senator Marion Butler in Chicago. Butler is due in Atlanta tonight and will not receive the letter until returning to Chicago. Watson's throat illness improves. Dr. Richardson says no serious ailment exists beyond throat trouble and warns against further speeches for a few days.

In Griffin, Georgia this morning Henry Milner an African American man was lynched after confessing to a criminal assault on Miss Blanche Ury who was walking home from a visit in Henry county. Milner had been recaptured after breaking away and was seized by a mob of about fifty men who hanged him from a tree near the town.
A massive cave-in at St Nicholas in Pottsville beneath a timber yard collapsed 10 000 to 15 000 feet of heavy mine timbers. Three blocks of houses were breached forcing families to evacuate. A 150 by 250 foot hole opened, and nearby Gilberton station and colliery stables are at risk from further breaches.
