Feast of Roses Celebrated by Zion Church at Manheim
In Lancaster Pennsylvania on June 10 the Feast of Roses was observed by Zion Church at Manheim. Baron Stiegel deeded the land for the church with a rental payment of one red rose when lawfully demanded, a custom observed since 1792. Miss M. M. Morning of Newport Rhode Island, a Stiegel heir, received the rose today. Governor Stone gave the principal address with additional remarks by W. A. Henzel H C Mercer and Rev T Steck. Miss Anna D. Adama of York recited. A large crowd attended, many bearing roses which were placed around the altar as worshippers passed by.
