Special to The Tribune reports the sudden death of George Stone of Athens Pennsylvania. While riding a tandem with a companion near Owego New York the wheel failed and Stone leaped to avoid crash striking his head on a stone and dying instantly. His companion was fatally injured. Stone formerly lived in Hallstead and was well regarded at Dr Lams Drug Store. His wife is visiting relatives.

At 12 45 this morning an alarm from box 85 at West Market and Winona streets summoned North End fire units to Mat Riley's house on Wales street. The one and a half story dwelling was extinguished before major damage. bucket brigade aided, firefighters arrived after the blaze was out.
