A patrol officer is wounded and several workers are beaten or knocked unconscious as crowds surge through Willson and Euclid avenues. The unrest expands to nearby streets with threats of extended strikes and renewed clashes.
Special to The Tribune Montrose July 2 a Cho conut township resident struck a vein of anthracite coal while plowing. He gathered about a ton and it burns with a bluish flame and shows good quality. Neighbor Mr Dean also prospected and found black rocks on his land are pure anthracite. Drift of the vein dips southeast. Further developments expected.
Coroner Shank and the district attorney spent July 2 in Providence township probing the death of Mrs. Mary Bushman wife of Henry Bushman. Neighbors suspect poisoning. Bodies buried Sunday prior. Coroner sought testimony to justify an inquest before exhumation. Witnesses were examined but details withheld pending further investigations.
