Pittsburg January 17 auditors probing ex City Attorney Moreland and assistant W H Howse uncover that last two weeks in office they failed to hand over day money totaling about 10 000 to 11 000. Mayor Moreland says he knew nothing of the shortage and will turn over funds when statements of debt are provided. Audit not yet complete.
The Pennsylva nia and the Southern Railroad companies presented an itinerary for bringing the Liberty Bell from Atlanta. The schedule runs from Philadelphia January 28 6 55 p m with a return to Independence Hall via a large military parade after a stop sequence through Gainesville Greenville Spartansburg Charlotte Sallebury High Point Greensboro Danville Lynchburg Charlottesville and a Saturday arrival.

A coal wagon ran over his left arm causing amputation. He dreamed of being struck by an electric car and a cable car before seeking accident insurance. While waiting for the New York policy to arrive, he faced daily risks without coverage for the loss.

E C Morris a renowned safe manufacturer left Boston two weeks ago and has not been heard from. He forged his father in law Frank M Ames's name on notes possibly totaling 75000. Brokers banks and trusts hold about 50000 and private individuals about 25000. Morris aged 51 had debts around 150000 to personal friends and is believed to have lost most of the 75000 in speculation.
Washington reports Dupuy de Lome received Madrid’s cable approving Campos’s resignation. It cites Luque’s forces in Angosturas and Sanchez engagement at Charca, with Gomes and other actions described as successful and exhausting for the enemy. Madrid to recall Campos and Arderius, appoint Weyster and Polavieja to supreme command in Cuba.

Bloomsburg Pa Jan 17 Word reached here that two thirds of Benton in Columbia County were destroyed by an incendiary fire. The loss was estimated at about $20,000 with extensive damage to homes and businesses.
