Health Hints and Rules of Hygiene in Households
Washington agricultural researchers near completing a ten chapter volume on food adulteration since 1887. Prof Wiley notes most adulterants are harmless but useless for food. examples include olive oil counterfeit with cottonseed oil and coffee labeled beans containing chicory or scorched flour. He warns ready ground coffee often lacks real coffee and that fillers in spices mimic color. Practical tips include starch on hands for skin relief, charcoal uses for odor absorption and wound care, hair washing cautions, and simple remedies for catarrh and memory.
