Four in court for kidnapping and assault in Kentucky
Four Harlan County relatives faced U S District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove in London for kidnapping and assault of Kevin Pennington then a Letcher County resident. Two pleaded guilty over a year ago to hate crime provisions under the Matthew Shepard James Byrd Jr. Act, marking the first such convictions in the nation. David Jason Jenkins 39 received 30 years, Anthony Ray Jenkins 22 got 17 years, Mable Ashley Jenkins 20 earned eight years and four months, Alexis LeeAnn Jenkins 20 received eight years.
