Puffton Village Apartments uses stackable modules in Amherst rental project
Amherst Massachusetts debuts Puffton Village Apartments a 164 unit rental complex built from 12 by 56 foot wood modules prefabricated in Virginia by Magnolia Homes and assembled on site. Architects Tiffany Armstrong and developers Glen Development Corp say the design creates four apartments per building with five interlocking modules and a modern two story living space. Construction cost averaged 11 to 12 dollars per square foot with rents from 130 to 160 dollars, serving FHA insured housing for middle income tenants and viewed as a prototype for future modular housing.
