The United States suspends relations with the Dominican Republic and cuts off all aid after a bloodless coup ousts President Juan Bosch. State Department says the government, as recognized by the U S, has ceased to exist and the move is a hemispheric loss.
Robert Altherr sues Maricopa County court for 550000 damages claiming Paradise Valley Elementary District breached a June 1960 agreement to buy a building he constructed and leased to the district. He says trustees canceled the deal and later built another school. Named defendants are trustees Ernest R. Perry Louis A. Tolmai W E Smith Robert A Sitzler and Charles F Boyer.
The Scottsdale Education Association urged its 800 members to vote as a bloc for Rev. Lee Smallsreed in the upcoming school board race. The SEA delegates voted unanimously after questioning candidates on Sept 12, citing Smallsreed as best aligned with district needs while noting it risks politics entering classrooms.
