Johnson urged Congress to curb inflation with limited action
The Babson Report notes President Johnson seeks targeted Congress measures to cool the overheated economy. He asks to suspend a 7 percent investment tax credit for machinery and to defer buildings write offs from Sept 1 1966 to Jan 1 1968 and calls for restraint on nondefense spending and easing money costs while warning that bigger steps may follow if inflation does not abate.
