Nuclear test at Yucca Flat yields low intermediate blast
AEC announced a large nuclear device exploded Friday at the bottom of a 1840 foot shaft in Yucca Flat Nevada. The test produced an approximate yield of 100 kilotons, equivalent to 200000 tons of TNT, with no radioactive leakage into the atmosphere. It was the 31st test this year and 99th since the atmospheric testing ban began in August 1963, not felt off the test site.

Thirteen Cosa Nostra Hoods Freed on Bond in New York
Thirteen Cosa Nostra members released on $100000 bail each after a major raid in Manhattan. They fled civil jail in a restaurant style escape and were labeled as material witnesses to appear before a county grand jury next week. The raid was described as the largest in nine years.

New bid to free Peace Corps captive in Soviet border case
UPI reports a new plea by they United States for the release of Peace Corpsman Thomas Dawson a 24 year old from Annapolis Md seized by Soviet border guards while seashell hunting near the Caspian Sea. Embassy officials said Dawson is in good spirits despite confinement in Baku and a new appeal was made to Georgi Kornicko of the Soviet Foreign Ministry.
