Underground Lines Are Preferred But Costly In Scottsdale Plan
APS official Hal Taylor told Scottsdale Rotary Club that buried power lines add about 100 to 200 dollars per dwelling unit versus overhead in new subdivisions. He described transmission and local service lines, noting underground installs are for new construction, not replacing existing lines. Paradise Valley already requires underground installs with a use permit for overhead high voltage. Scottsdale officials study an underground ordinance for future subdivisions.
