In Phoenix, 35 members from five Spanish speaking organizations called for equality in public accommodations. They urged an end to discrimination in urban and suburban eateries and pledged to oppose discriminatory practices until eradication. The group cited LULAC, Porfirio Diaz Mutual Society No. 2, Benito Juarez Mutual Society, Vesta Club, and the American Coordinating Council on Political Education. Separately, a Negro man was refused service at El Rey Cafe on a technicality amid earlier pickets. owner Connie Peralta temporarily allowed Negroes after threats, then retracted amid further intimidation.
