Woman survives after suitor abducts bride. killer commits suicide
In Cleveland a 19 year old bride Mrs. Lida Caldwell was shot at least once by her 23 year old suitor Robert Batch who held her hostage in his attic for nearly two days and killed himself. The groom Charles Caldwell 18 was wounded in the attack. Police found Batch dead on arrival at hospital after a police entry into the attic room. The bride walked to a landing before being carried to an ambulance and taken to Doctors Hospital in critical condition. The incident began after Batch abducted the couple from the Parmly Hotel following their Detroit wedding. Police surrounded the residence in University Heights before the final confrontation.
