The Reads had sought to stop the island annexation that would affect their home and Mrs. Reads Stable Gallery, amid pending zoning plans for a restaurant. The city council annexed the area around McDonald Drive and Cattle Track Road, an island of county land entirely surrounded by Scottsdale.
