The Florence Allen Candy Shop at 36 East Main lures locals and visitors with scents wafting from copper kettles as Bert Chadwick stirs confections beneath a large fan. Mrs. Allen, a lifelong candy worker formerly with Fannie May, greets customers while offering fudges, toffees, nougats, seafoam, and candies recalled from nostalgic days.
