Ladies day at Mountain Shadows Country Club featured a nine hole tournament with club members in zany costumes. Mrs A A McCollum appeared as the Queen of Clubs, Mrs James Mueller dressed as Cleopatra, and Mrs Raymond Smith wore a clown outfit. Nineteen members participated.

Soape Slaying Solved
Two Sahuarita workers were arrested for the June murder of Scottsdale insurance salesman Glendell Soape. Soape was struck with a heavy instrument and stabbed in the head, robbed of 600 dollars, a watch and a ring, and lured by a prostitute who later moved to Dallas. Suspects Robert Lee Sims and Leo Davis faced open murder charges and were to be arraigned in justice court.

The 230000 volt line will be built by Foley Jelco of Salt Lake City for 1141314 dollars with completion by May 1 1964. It is the second APS line and the third across Paradise Valley joining the Ocotillo plant at Tempe and runs southeast of Pinnacle Peak near Taliesin West. Solon Charges He Was Slugged in House Lobby
Washington Rep. Ed Foreman said Rep. Henry Gonzalez slugged him outside the House chamber after a threat to pistol whip. Foreman, recounting to newsmen, said Gonzales invited him outside and swung hitting his right shoulder. He remained unhurt and did not retaliate, telling Gonzalez he had lost his mind. Panel To Report On Scottsdale School District Shortage
A citizens committee appointed in September will present recommendations at a 7 30 pm school board meeting at Paiute School 6515 E Osborn Rd. The panel has met weekly in closed sessions to discuss the shortage and may propose a bond issue to finance new classrooms. The district needs 103 more classrooms by September 1965 and is currently 60 to 70 classrooms short this year with some elementary classes in rented off campus facilities.
