John Ehrlichman, former White House aide to President Nixon, arrives at Swift Trail Federal Prison Camp in Safford to start a minimum 30 month sentence. Judges allowed immediate reporting, with Ehrlichman seeking no media contact and only communications from family and attorneys.
A seven member site selection subcommittee recommended Ingleside as the preferred site for a new Scottsdale middle school housing seventh and eighth graders in one building. Boundary changes would shift kindergarten through sixth graders from Ingleside to Kaibab or Tavan, with S2nd Street as a key dividing line.
A district committee of school officials will decide boundary changes after reviewing declining enrollment. A survey among sixth and seventh graders' parents across five schools shows about half favor the plan, 25 percent undecided, 30 percent opposed, with Ingleside most supportive and Hopi and Tavan most opposed.

Rep. Sam Steiger of Arizona states he did not authorize staff to check Consolidated Mortgage Co before aiding a forest service land exchange, calling it routine and saying checks would have bogged down the process. The exchange, delayed since 1970, was completed April 25 1973 with no other dealings found. Verde Lakes clubhouse sat on Forest Service land near Camp Verde as Consolidated planned to swap nearby land.

The suspect identified as W S Jamison directed calls and covert steps, with investigators noting many attempts go unreported.
