Burglary at Veola Roberts Home Yields Gems and Cash

Burglars took a silver mink stole a diamond ring and lamb coat from the Veola Roberts residence at 7724 El Minnetowa between 10 30 and 11 50 am Monday. Firemen rescue dog from Arizona Canal at Camelback Road

Seousdale firefighters responded to a canal rescue early today at Camelback Road. They used a pike pole and ladder to reach a dog in the Arizona Canal and saved it. A man identified the dog’s owner, and responders noted the gas was turned on but flames were suppressed. The department also addressed a fire at 70 West Ave, where gas was found turned on but not ignited.

Youth in Desert Cycle Crash Injures 11-Year-Old

Bret Hamilton aged 11 of Scottsdale suffered a broken collarbone when a motorcycle he rode flipped over near Pima Road and Shea Boulevard. He received treatment at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital and was released. The incident occurred around noon Monday in the desert area northeast of the intersection.

Reds ambush U S convoy near Saigon in daylight

Viet Cong ambushed an American convoy on Highway 20 about 50 miles northwest of Saigon injuring two and killing one. The attack used rocket grenades and mortars as helicopters and artillery repelled the assault. The incident followed another daylight ambush on a South Vietnamese payroll convoy earlier.
