Scottsdale moves to sue Phoenix over domestic water rates after negotiations fail to lower charges 87 percent above Scottsdale residents. Attorney Mark Wilmer says talks continue with Mayor Sam Mardian, with condemnation possible if terms cannot be reached.
The district’s school board election drew 2 398 ballots, near the 1960 high mark of 3 509. Dr Steward Flascken won a five year term with 1 045 votes, about 40 percent of the total. Historic turnout declined after 1956 then rose to near record levels. Martin’s total was misreported as 132 when it was 108 at Scottsdale High.
Cairo reported President Nasser stated the United Arab Republic will not oppose Syria joining the United Nations and will also not object to Syria's admission to the Arab League.
